Six powders for a mask aimed mainly at the scalp and roots, mixed fresh with warm water. Bhringraj, Brahmi and Amla make a scalp pack from their usual paste, kept mostly on the scalp when your lengths are dry: 20–30 minutes (Brahmi 15–30), up to twice a week, and the scalp usually feels fresh and cared for. Neem is for an oily scalp: a looser paste along your partings for 15–30 minutes before you wash, so roots usually feel lighter. Fuller's Earth (Multani Mitti) is a thin, pourable slurry for oily roots and scalp only: leave it 5 minutes, rinse very thoroughly, and skip it on dry, dyed, bleached or fragile hair. Aloe Vera Powder makes a soft scalp mask that can leave a dry-feeling scalp comfortable. None of them replaces a wash. Which Ayurvedic hair powder should you use? compares them. Patch test 24–48 hours before first use.
